TELNET is the Internet standard for remote login service. The machine on which the TELNET client is started is the "local" machine. The host to which the client connects is known as the "remote" machine. The TELNET client must be told the hostname or the IP address of the host to which you want to connect. Once connected, you must provide a valid username and password. Having successfully logged in, your local machine is functioning as a terminal of the remote machine. Complete instructions for telnetting is given below.
