Earliest Dinkins Traced Ancestor -- Henry Dinkins Born 1807 In Wayne County, NC. Henry's father was probably James Dinkins (~1765). Both are probably descendents of the Irish Dinkins who landed at Charleston, South Carolina on October 19, 1717. The Fletcher and Peelle families have been traced back to the 1600's. Jariah B. Dinkins (One of five sons of Henry Dinkins) -- served in the Union Army during the Civil War - 19th Indiana Volunteers - The Iron brigade. Jariah Dinkins stood guard over Abraham Lincoln as he was dying. Jariah was wounded twice and served in many battles from Manassas to Petersburg. His brother William T.
